I was at the show at Ungano's. IIRC the NY Rock & Roll Ensemble were on the bill with Badfinger that night.
What I can tell you is that this recording is not from that lovely little club that was once on West 70 Street.

Any idea where it actually was recorded, then?
Where - exactly it was recorded I can't say. I know that there is a website which lists all of Badfinger's tour schedules and set lists. Perhaps a look there will enable someone to make a reasonable deduction.
It should also be noted that besides running the club on W 70 St., the Ungano brothers also operated a Fillmore East style venue on Staten Island.
